12V 120Ah vs 130Ah LiFePO4 Battery Weight
A 12V battery’s Ah rating does not determine one universal weight. Cell format, enclosure, BMS, terminals and optional hardware must be compared on the same basis.
Compare a model, not capacity alone.
The figures below deliberately separate verified reference data from a project value that still requires engineering confirmation.
| Item | 12.8V 120Ah reference | 12V/12.8V 130Ah project |
|---|---|---|
| Battery chemistry | LiFePO4 | Confirm chemistry and cell platform |
| Reference weight | Approximately 13.9kg | No universal value; confirm by model |
| Reference dimensions | 333 × 176 × 217mm | Define from cell layout and enclosure |
| Construction | Applies only to the referenced configuration | Confirm enclosure, BMS, terminals and options |
| Ordering status | Reconfirm current drawing and packing before order | Engineering review required before quotation |
Reference figures are configuration-specific. They must not be extrapolated to every 120Ah or 130Ah battery.
Five construction choices can change the answer.
Cell format and arrangement
Different cell formats, housings and internal compression structures can produce different pack weights at the same nominal voltage and capacity.
Enclosure and reinforcement
Plastic cases, metal enclosures, mounting frames, handles and reinforcement change both net weight and external dimensions.
BMS and current path
A higher-current BMS, larger busbars, heavier cables, contactors and fusing add material that is not visible in the Ah rating.
Options and environment
Heating, display, Bluetooth, communication, sealing, terminals and impact protection may add weight or force a different enclosure.
Net versus shipping weight
Battery net weight, packed unit weight and carton or pallet shipping weight are different procurement values.
How to get an accurate 130Ah answer.
Set the mechanical limit
Provide maximum dimensions, allowable weight, mounting direction and access for cables and terminals.
Define the electrical load
State continuous current, peak current and duration so the internal current path is not undersized.
List required options
Include heating, display, Bluetooth, communication, ingress protection and special terminals.
Separate weight terms
Request net weight, gross packed weight, dimensions and tolerance on the same model revision.
Common weight questions.
Is every 12V 120Ah LiFePO4 battery about 13.9kg?
No. The 13.9kg figure belongs to one reference construction. Different cells, cases, BMS hardware and options can change it.
How much does a 12V 130Ah lithium battery weigh?
There is no reliable universal figure. Ask for the exact model’s net weight, construction, dimensions and tolerance; we confirm these after the configuration is defined.
Can weight be estimated from watt-hours?
Watt-hours can support an early comparison, but they do not account for enclosure, BMS, conductors, terminals, heating or packaging. Final installation decisions need model-level data.
Have a weight or space limit?
Send the maximum dimensions, target capacity, load, options and quantity for a model-specific review.
