Procurement Scope

A battery module is not automatically a complete energy storage system.

“Modular” may describe repeatable battery modules, a stackable enclosure, parallel low-voltage batteries or a series-connected high-voltage string. Each architecture has different BMS hierarchy, isolation, contactor, precharge, service and expansion rules.

A product title mentioning IP65 or a particular energy value applies only to that exact verified model and revision. It is not extended to every stackable system. Inverters, PCS, switchgear, HVAC, fire protection and site installation remain separate unless stated in the proposal.

Direct answer: Define required usable kWh, power, inverter/PCS voltage window, low- or high-voltage architecture, initial and future module count, installation environment, communication and system responsibility.

What makes an ESS modular?

The electrical and mechanical building blocks, BMS hierarchy, approved expansion rules and service method must be defined—not just a stackable appearance.

Can I add modules later?

Only when the system design permits it and compatibility, state, firmware, protection and commissioning requirements are met.

Is a 5kWh stackable battery automatically IP65?

No. IP ratings are model- and enclosure-specific. Submit the installation environment so the exact proposed product can be checked.
